Freedom's Rest Family Violence Center
Freedom's Rest Family Violence Center, serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence in eleven southwest Missouri counties, is seeking candidates to be considered for service on the organizations governing board of directors.
The mission of Freedom’s Rest is to provide shelter and advocacy to the survivors of domestic and sexual violence and to promote education to break the cycle of violence in our community.
To deliver on this mission, Freedom's Rest operates a full-service emergency domestic and sexual violence shelter located in Ozark, serving hundreds of victims each year from Christian, Barry, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Lawrence, Ozark, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster counties in southwest Missouri.
In addition to emergency shelter services, Freedom's Rest also provides outreach and case management services for victims of domestic and sexual violence, regardless of availability to house the client in the emergency shelter.
Requirements: Board candidates must be recommended for election by the boards nominating committee, and confirmed by a majority vote of the organizations full board of directors. Members must pass a criminal background check, sign a nondisclosure agreement, and conflict of interest disclosure. Members must attend a majority of meetings and may not miss more that three consecutive meetings. All members agree to make a will make a personal financial contribution at a level that is meaningful to the individual member. A full outline of board requirements are available online.
Meeting times: The board meetings monthly, typically the third Wednesday of each month at 8:15 a.m. at the Mercy Orthopedic Hospital, located at 3050 E. River Bluff Blvd., Ozark. While board members are encouraged to attend in person when possible, members are able to attend by phone when needed.
